Privacy Notice

E-Sport Global Rally Tour

Introduction

By registering for and participating in the E-sport Global Rally Tour (“Competition”), participants acknowledge that certain personal data will be collected and processed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (the “FIA”) and its partners, including 505 Games and Supernova, for the purposes of managing the Competition.

Personal data may be collected directly from participants during registration and participation, as well as indirectly through the game platform on which the Competition is hosted.

Data Collected

The FIA will process the following categories of data:

  • Name or username
  • Email address
  • Country of residence
  • Date of birth
  • Competition participation details
  • Gameplay performance data, including race times, rankings, penalty, weather settings, car name, and leaderboard results
  • Metadata related to the game participation

Competition rankings and leaderboard results may be made publicly available during and after the Competition. To help protect participant privacy, public-facing leaderboards may display anonymized or partially anonymized identifiers, such as usernames, initials, or masked player IDs, instead of full personal names, upon request. If you do not want to appear, or to appear under a pseudonym, you can reach us at dpo@fia.com.

Legal Basis for Processing

The processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of the contractual relationship (the e-Sport Global Rally Regulations) between the participant and the FIA in connection with participation in the Competition, including account creation, competition administration, leaderboard management, ranking validation, participant communications, and prize fulfillment.

Applicable Laws

Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including:

  • The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”)
  • The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (“FADP”)
  • Any other applicable local laws governing privacy and data protection

Participation is open worldwide unless prohibited or restricted by applicable local law.

Minors

The Competition is not directed at children under the age of 14 at the date of the corresponding Regional Shootout. If the FIA becomes aware that personal data has been collected from a participant below the minimum permitted age under applicable law without required authorization, such data may be deleted and participation may be revoked.

Third-Party Platforms

The Competition will take place on the Game Platform, administered by a third-party may be hosted or administered through third-party gaming or competition platforms operating under their own terms and privacy policies.

Participants acknowledge that certain information may be exchanged between the FIA and third parties such as:

  • 505 Games
  • Supernova

In particular, the FIA will receive certain information from 505 Games. Participants are responsible for reviewing and accepting the applicable third-party terms and conditions and reviewing their privacy policy before creating an account or participating in the Competition.

International Data Transfers

As the Competition is open to participants worldwide, personal data may be processed in countries outside the participant’s country of residence. Where required under applicable law, appropriate safeguards for international data transfers will be implemented.

Data Subject Rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of your personal data; to correct, delete or restrict (stop any active) processing of your personal data; and to obtain the personal data you provide to us for a contract or with your consent in a structured, machine-readable format.

In addition, you can object to the processing of your personal data in some circumstances.

These rights may be limited, for example if fulfilling your request would reveal personal data about another person, where it would infringe the rights of a third party (including our rights) or if you ask us to delete information which we are required by law to keep or have compelling legitimate interests in keeping. Relevant exemptions are included in European, Swiss and UK data protection laws and under applicable member state laws. We will inform you of relevant exemptions we rely upon when responding to any request you make.

To exercise any of these rights, you can contact us – or our Data Protection Officer – using the details set out below. If you have unresolved concerns, you have the right to complain to an EU data protection authority where you live, work or where you believe a breach may have occurred. This may be the CNIL in France. You may also complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Switzerland.

We will always inform you where information you provide is mandatory. Information that is provided in order to comply with the FIA’s various rules and regulations listed above is mandatory. Failure to provide this information may breach our regulations.

Details of the FIA as a Controller

The FIA has two primary entities: a French association having its registered office in 8 Place de la Concorde, Paris, and a Swiss association having its registered office in 2 Chemin de Blandonnet, Geneva.

Both entities work together as joint controllers in the processing of personal data relating to motorsport. These entities collaborate on the determination of the purposes and means of processing described in this notice.

The FIA’s Swiss association takes primary responsibility for supporting data subjects, and in handling any requests data subjects may have. You can find the relevant contact details below.

Regional Shootout

Please note that for the organisation of the regional Shootout, the ASN in charge of the organisation of your regional Shootout will be joint controller with the FIA for the management of the competition. You can contact us at dpo@fia.com as primary contact point.

Data Retention Period

FIA will retain and process personal data relating to Participants for the duration of the Competition and for 1 additional year.

After this period, we will take steps to delete your personal data or hold it in a form that no longer identifies you, provided that we have no further lawful basis requiring us to maintain your data.

Do Not Sell

The FIA does not sell participants’ personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.

Updates to this Privacy Notice

We reserve the right to update this privacy notice at any time, and we will provide you with a new privacy notice when we make any substantial updates. We may also notify you in other ways from time to time about the processing of your personal information.
